Birthdays!

Kent and I just celebrated our birthdays! His was the 13th and mine was yesterday, St. Patty's Day.  We had friends over to grill out for his birthday and then went out for green beer with some of our friends for my bday last night.  Kent requested an oreo ice cream cake for his birthday, which got me thinking about wedding cakes!

Here's a few looks I love:

And great candy bars (Kent's favorite part of any wedding):

Trauma Surgery and Pastels

I have had an awesome first week of trauma surgery full of motor vehicle accidents, gun shot wounds and more.  I cannot even begin to explain the excitement I get when my trauma pager goes off and I get to head down to the trauma unit of the emergency room, gown up and get ready for our patient to arrive.  It is truly an adrenaline rush.  We had quite a few trauma alerts this week as well as some elective surgeries.  I cut out someone's appendix yesterday laparoscopically, which was awesome! On my day off, I did some wedding work.  I finally started contacting vendors and looking at dresses, both bridesmaids and bridal.  I'm considering a change in wedding colors, since I'm so far out, I figure its safe to change a little- nothing drastic- just adding a little pastel color action.  Maybe this change is because I have only seen myself in pale blue scrubs in the last week!!!
Anyway here is a navy and green weddings that I love from the Vue:

This is another navy blue and green wedding from Southern Weddings Magazine!

Love it! Got to head to bed since waking up at 4:30 isn't easy!

Wedding Planning!

I had so much fun forgetting about school and wedding planning with my mom this weekend! We went to a couple of places getting some ideas, sorted out a budget, and shared all of our wedding ideas.  Such good times...

Just wanted to post a super cute wedding from Southern Living Wedding magazine - I love the bright pink, light pink and orange dresses and the pomanders hanging overhead!

Love the drinks in the cute cups with orange rims.

 Amazing tent!
 Great umbrellas during cocktail hour.

Time to get ready to start trauma surgery tomorrow morning! So happy to have had a weekend to relax prior to tomorrow!

Wonderful Day

This morning I was laying in bed listening to the Sandhill Cranes flying over our house, heading back to Wisconsin.  They make this loud beautiful noise as they fly in flocks across the sky.  I opened the sliding glass door of my bedroom, so I could hear them better.  Kent and I used to joke that we were like the Sandhill cranes, always flying back and forth from Florida to Wisconsin!

Last night, our friends threw a joint engagement party for five couples, including Kent and myself.  It was so much fun to catch up with friends and talk weddings with four other brides! Some pictures from the party are below.

This afternoon, instead of studying for my shelf on Friday, Kent and I decided to go golfing with John and Megan.  We managed to make it through 11 holes without making too much of a spectacle of ourselves!!! Good thing our fiances are so good at golf!

So for some wedding stuff...This is my favorite!  The tent is fabulous! You can see the more of the wedding at http://iloveswmag.com/real-wedding/kara-tyler/

Ok bed time now! Back to the hospital tomorrow.

My First Post

I should really be studying for my Internal Medicine shelf, but instead I thought it would be fun to create a blog!  My cousin has an amazing blog that she used during her wedding planning and continues to blog now as a newlywed.  After referring my mom and sister to Kelli's blog multiple times, I figured I should start my own blog to have a way to share my wedding ideas with my mom, sister and friends. So here goes the beginning of my blog and most likely the decline in my medical school GPA!

Prior to even being engaged I started thinking up color combinations.  Originally it was teal and green or pink for a beach wedding in Florida, but when Kent and I decided to say our vows on Washington Island in Wisconsin, teal didn't seem right.  I started looking at green weddings and fell in love with navy blue and green.  Here are some inspiration boards I made.  The photos are ones I found from various posted weddings and websites as ideas for my own wedding!

That is all for tonight - have to be at the hospital early for rounds!
