Our Trip to the Island!
Kent & I are unfortunately home from our two week vacation to the island. We loved having my mom and grandma come visit to see what our love of Washington Island was all about as well as meeting all of Kent's family. I think they had fun despite our exhausting schedule of wedding planning activities. My mom completed most of her list of tourist things to do on Washington Island - she did her Bitters Club Shot, climbed Mountain Tower, hiked Rock Island, ate at the Alby (twice!), got coffee (daily) from the Red Cup, cooked out at Schoolhouse Beach, dined at our wedding caterer's restaurant, The Cellar, and more! We enjoyed a trip to the county (Door County) to visit with one of Stella's friends, lunch at the historic and delicious White Gull Inn, and met with our cake baker. Mom and Stella also got to visit Green Bay, Home of the Super Bowl Champion Packers, for meetings and lunch with Kent's sister, Colby and her boyfriend. It was definitely an eventful week with Mom and Grandma. Our second week was slightly more relaxing. We met with our wedding photographer for our engagement photos, which I am SOOOO excited to see in the next few weeks. Em was phenomenal and really made our photos about what places and things we love on the island. I really wish I could skip rocks at Schoolhouse beach as well as Kent to keep up in the photos...but oh well! We fished, boated and drank as usual for the island. I cannot wait to be back up there for another visit and OUR WEDDING!

Classy Cakes
In preparation for our meeting with Sarah from Flour Girl Patissier, I started looking at cakes to see what kind of style I like. We already have to deal with the difficulty of transporting a cake from the county across Death's Door (aka on the ferry) and to our wedding site, so I have decided that smaller cakes may be easier than one big cake (and less risk of tipping over)!!! I also realized that I love cakes that have some similarities to the bride's gown. Anyway, here are some photos to flip through.
Can't wait to taste some delicious flavors! Just sad we won't have my sister with us, as she is definitely the expert on chocolate cake!

Taupe and White Wedding
This wedding by Vue Photography is one of the weddings that prompted my change of color scheme. The bridesmaids dresses are LulaKate dresses in the color that I fell in love with on my visit to Orlando a month ago. This first photo is one that is already on my blog under bridemaids dresses, but I realized I should probably post the whole wedding, since it is so phenomenal!
Great Engagement Photos
One week from now I will be driving with my Mom, Grandma and Brassy Bear to the island. It is FINALLY wedding planning time! I cannot wait. We have so many meetings with different people that will be involved in our wedding as well as some fun spa days and hiking trips planned. While Kent and I are relaxing during our second week on the island, we will have our engagement photos taken so I've been searching the internet for pics I love! Here are a few from Vue Photography, Southern Weddings and more.
I can't wait to finally meet my photographer, Em from M Photography. She is based out of Stevens Point Wisconsin and is making the trek to the island for our engagement photos (and hopefully a little R&R as well). So excited!
P.S. I have been so busy on my last few weeks of inpatient pediatrics that I didn't have time to post on Thursday, JUNE 9TH!!! But that was officially the one year countdown point for our wedding! Yay. Unfortunately the high temperature on Washington Island that day was somewhere in the low 50's, but the day prior to that was 80, so maybe God will bless our wedding with warm weather!
